The world has become quite barren, losing green growth, now mainly volcanic rock. The human race had to relocate as Earth became inhabitable. Quite a depressing thought. However, the beauty lies in the resilience of human nature. We have a long history of overcoming disease, destruction, turmoil, and torment. Though the new world is quite bleak and grey, the human spirit continues to enjoy leisure time activities more so now than ever before. It’s the new coping mechanism in this extremely fast-paced high-tech world. Everything and anything is available at your fingertips. The traditional workforce and the way we used to live is obsolete. AI and robotics control everything: invention, analysis, production, manufacturing, delivering food, fashion, transport and medical supplies etc. Socialising, travel, and leisure are now the new ‘past’ times.

About the artist:
Angela McNiece is an Australian artist whose practice oscillates between photography and film. McNiece’s practice draws upon a personal archive of European architecture, theme parks, social scenes and natural rock formations to create mesmerising experimental films. McNiece completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design at Swinburne University and in 2008 was awarded the Mastermind prize in the MONA + HORSE BAZAAR experimental film competition. Recently McNiece’s experimental films have been selected and screened in Toronto, Los Angeles, and Berlin film festivals.
