Utilitarian Maximalism Designed for a New World – ASLAN launches as a fashion brand born out of the vision of artist CJ Aslan, whose designs focus on the exploration of Surrealist fashion & objects. Her first collection takes you out of time, space and reality through visual storytelling. ASLAN pieces are carefully curated, being both avant-garde and experimental in concept and materiality, with the intention of twisting our perspective on garments, and offering a commentary on minimalist design.

Conceptually the film, “She Sits Up High, Dressed in Pewter,” offers a dream state critique on our current political state, the First Testament, and the rebirth of existence. Visually the film pulls inspiration from modern opera and German experimental set design. The Viewer is taken on a journey through the New World. A dark space, a new reality, A rebirth of the working class.
