Fashion fil – The gates of infinity – FESCH.TV

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

The concept inspired by Borges‘ interpretation of „infinity“, combined with the human original emotions of „unknown”,the video presents a atmosphere of surreal mystic.

The design of the installation is inspired by Auguste Rodin’s sculptures, which destroyed and reconstructed the human skin texture obtained by 3D scanning technology. It symbolizes the crowd in hell on Rodin’s sculpture.

Artist Laura often uses resin, acrylic and shells to tease this line between organic and fabricate. For me, infinity means sustainability. I learned from her work that I use recyclable lightweight clay to attach to the surface of the gates.

I would get the color inversion of the skin texture, which represents the conversion between virtual space and real space. I printed the skin texture on artificial leather and stitched it with a stapler. It also explores the relationship between human body, identity and space.

In addition, it is also a kind of conjecture about the future form of virtual religion. The upper part of the human body prays to its lower body, and extends infinitely from the gates to the distance.

The gates with symbol “Tree of Kabala“ is a metaphor for eternal truth in the video. And I used shells and clay to make the prop, that shape of heart, And I used prosthetics to make the opposite knee joint of the demons. And I used male leather shoes to make female corsets and matched the models with high heel boots. In order to express the androgyny of the demons, I am also exploring new masculinity.

Humans fall into infinity, but demon sacrificed its heart. Penetrate and blur the boundary between good and evil. Getting rid of infinity and transcending good and evil is this proposition.

This fashion film uses vertical screen composition and garments provide from fashion designer Jingmang Ke. I deconstruct the fashion language and reproduce it in audio-visual language. Garments wakes up the body and carries the shape and spirit of the body. Models wearing garments by 3D scanning to break the boundary between reality and virtual. By combining fashion material study with digital installation, my work reflects on issues related to spatial structures and social interaction in the post-digital era.
