Muyil Lagoon is located within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve in Quintana Roo Mexico. The natural areas of this region have been threatened by the exponential growth of the tourist economy that has led to displacement, land dispossession, appropriation and adaptation of spaces for consumption in the context of a global market; the establishment and participation of an endless number of agencies dedicated to the design, promotion, organization and commercialization of travel experiences. Being a poorly connected area, visitors are mostly high-income people who are interested in exotic bird watching in the tropics.
