Imagine playing romance without anyone to play it with? Well, that happens a lot in movies. Have you ever seen the hero/ heroine filling the frame and they are so happy that their loved one is in front of them? Very likely there was nobody in front, except the camera. And very likely the actor playing the opposite wasn’t even in the set!

This is an exercise in imagination. A kiss, especially on the lips is such an intimate, felt experience. How to recreate that feeling from within? Is it even possible? Yes it is: with practice. What is this practice is the eternal question?

One of my friends told me about his experience: he was on a bus when he received a call that his aunt had passed away. At the same time he was grieving and he was seeing himself grieving. At that time he wondered whether he was sad or he was an actor practicing sadness. It’s not a great place to be, but it’s a necessary place when growing the craft.
