‘Cast No Shadow’
is a body of work that seeks to explore this universal experience from an Arab perspective. We are told that we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover as looks can be deceptive, but in reality, we live in a world where appearance is everything and judgements are skin-deep. The obscured face in this series represents the viewer’s own blindness to see beyond that what is in front of them.
“No matter how far people travel down the road of life, their need to feel rooted never goes away. They are bound by their identities to peoples and places, to know and be who they are.”
