The Catalyst workshop: Protest Banners with artist Kerry Lemon & FESCH.TV:

The Catalyst workshop with sculpture artist Kerry Lemon – a two-day workshop for young people to use their voice and create textile protest banners.

Each participant created their own A2 portrait fabric banner. As a group we considered the history of protest and specifically banners (suffragettes; miner’s strikes; Trump; youth climate; humorous slogans; iconography etc.). 

Participants discussed the types of things they wanted to use their voices for (for example, fast fashion, climate change, gender rights, veganism, voting reform) and learned lots of fabric collage skills to create unique, iconic banners.
