This video is a discussion between Dominique Nottage and Claire Wasson, who both recently submitted their dissertations for the MA Fashion Cultures and Histories. Both their dissertations are inspired by their personal background and histories. Dominique is a Black woman who researched Black female fashion editors, and Claire is half-Japanese American and focused on other young Japanese Americans. Through drawing on the theme of personal histories, Dominique and Claire talk about the scope of their dissertations, what drew them to research something personal, the importance of personal research, and what their dissertation process imparted onto them.
