Highlights From the New Student Orientation & FESCH.TV:

Our amazing new students were welcomed to VCUarts Qatar by Dean Amir Berbić, as well as members of the Student Affairs department including Dr. Matthew Nelson and Sarah Faheem, and professors from our Art Foundation, Art History, and Painting + Printmaking departments.

They were given tours of our facilities including the Art & Design Library, Materials Library, Innovative Media Studios, Writing Center, and Digital Design + Fabrication.

Activities included an introduction to all of our Majors, individual and class photos, campus tours, a scavenger hunt, and an introduction to US academics, and VCUarts Qatar culture and expectations.

Interior Design alumna Shaikha Darwish gave the opening keynote speech for the new student Convocation ceremony. Shaikha was the Class of 2023 Class Marshall, President of the VCUQ Qatar Student Association, and was a member of the Interior Design C/SAC (Chair/Secretary Advisory Committee). The students also received white Convocation hoodies, and took the New Student Pledge. They will receive black Senior hoodies shortly before they graduate.
