Aqualillies w/ The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles @ Los Angeles Athletic Club! & FESCH.TV:

We loved making a splash this past weekend with the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Athletic Club! The event kicked off with the Los Angeles book launch for Vicki Valosik’s new book: „Swimming Pretty: The Untold Story of Women in the Water“ with an illustrated presentation on the History of Women in the Water. A fashion parade of vintage swimwear from the collection of Kristin Wojkowski then led the audience to the grand finale, a synchronized swimming performance by @Aqualillies! The Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) is Los Angeles’ oldest private club – it was founded on September 8, 1880. Esther Williams was also a former member of LAC: in 1939, swimming for the Los Angeles Athletic Club, she became the U.S. National Champion in the 100m freestyle as well as a member of three LAAC National Championship relay teams – the medley relays swimming breaststroke, and the freestyle relay. She was a favorite for the 1940 U.S. Olympic Team, before World War II intervened and canceled the 1940 Olympic Games.
