Hip Hop 50th Anniversary – FESCH.TV
Hip Hop 50th Anniversary & FESCH.TV:
Hip hop, a cultural movement rooted in the Bronx, New York, emerged on August 11th, 1973 at a house party where DJ Kool Herc showcased an innovative technique of mixing and extending breakbeats, which laid the foundation for the genre’s musical aspect. Over time, rap, an essential element of hip hop, evolved as artists started rhyming over beats, expressing their experiences and narratives. The art of breakdancing brought dynamic movement to the culture, while graffiti art added visual creativity to urban spaces. Hip hop’s influence grew, addressing social issues, reflecting urban life, and empowering marginalized communities. It expanded globally, becoming a dominant force in music, fashion, and popular culture. 50 years later and it’s still going strong.
As the late Notorious B.I.G. once said, “You never thought that hip hop could take it this far”.
