A Traditional Hong Feinine Outfit – FESCH.TV
FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:
Happy Day 7 of our APAHM Cultural Fashion Display!! Today we have Malia, a third year student, modeling a traditional Hmong feminine outfit, (right) which features a kaus mom (hat), sev (apron), tiab (skirt), txoj siv sia (belt) and xauv (necklace). Each Hmong outfit is made from hemp or cotton with paj ntaub (flower cloth) trim and is typically made using a hand sewn applique method. The tiab (skirt, pictured to the right) is also a family heirloom given to the daughters of the family. This outfit can be seen worn by women for their weddings, momentous family functions and Hmong new years.
