Last summer I wanted to try my hand at an athletic spec piece of sorts. What evolved was two videos about two local athletes who double as extremely talented poets and writers. The writing prompt was broad, and I asked that each highlighted their unique experience and relationship with being an athlete. This is video one; Amelu’s spec, which became more of a tribute to her and her writing process. Amelu is an incredibly talented human; pursuing poetry, fashion, and art, all while attending the University of Montana. What you hear in this video is just a tease to all her incredible work as a poet and advocate. Her book is available on Amazon that she co-wrote alongside her good friend and talented musician Elijah Jail, and it is worth every penny. She has something to say, and we all need to listen.
