AK Hotel Photography
FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:
Alan Keohane’s style of photography feels real, spontaneous and editorial. Yet it also has the careful lighting, fine detail and crisp sharpness more often associated with architectural photography.
Marketing directors, like Kenza Zizi at the Royal Mansour, have remarked that, when they have press enquiries, it is often Alan’s images that are chosen by the magazines rather than another photographer’s work.
Alan Keohane started his career taking photographs for magazines, such as Marie Claire and the Independent in the UK, and for book publishers like Dorling Kindersley and Kyle Cathie. He still undertakes commissioned travel photography for magazines and publishers including Octopus Books, the NYT and Virtuoso Life Magazine. You can see some examples of his editorial work on his website:
He moved to Morocco in 1993 with his wife, Joanna Bristow, and set up his Moroccan photography company, Still Images SARL, in 2001.
In 2002 he started taking photos for local brand hotels, Riads and boutique hotels, but quickly gained an international reputation after magazines like Condé Nast Traveller started publishing his hotel photos.
Keohane is an agreed photographer with Park Hyatt, and has also taken photographs for Angsana, Four Seasons and the Amanjena. In 2012, he worked with Kim Walker, Creative Director and Senior Vice President of MHG at the time.
Alan has taken photographs of several Sofitel properties, including launching the Sofitel Tour Blanche in Casablanca, with then GM Thomas Greggory, in 2012.
He did all the opening photography of the Royal Palm Marrakech for Beachcomber in 2013, working with Gaelle Perrin Communication.
In 2016, Alan started working in earnest with the Mamounia renewing all the marketing images for the hotel.
Alan coordinated with Teri Friesen in relaunching the Movenpick Malabata after the brand was acquired by Accor in 2018. He has also photographed the Movenpick hotels in Casablanca and Marrakech.
Between 2019 and 2021 Alan did all the photography to launch the new Oberoi Marrakech, working closely with Oberoi Creative Head Keshav Hazra, and the Marchica Resort on the Mediterranean Coast near Nador.
Most recently Keohane completed 30 days photography to relaunch the Mamounia after it was closed for extensive renovations by international design partnership Jouin Manku in 2020/21.
Today Alan Keohane does nearly all the photography for the Mamounia group of hotels and works closely with Executive Director Denys Courtier and Communications Director Lamia El Ghorfi.
