The Angkor Wat temple complex forms the largest religious monument in the world. Angkor Wat was built by King Suryavarman II during the first half of the 12th century and was originally a Hindu temple. It was only later that King Jayavarman VII converted to Buddhism. This explains why no Buddha head exists in Angkor Wat.
