India Scott’s carefully curated life unravels with the discovery of a fading photograph of a mother and child in her late father’s old coat.

Like many women in the ‘sandwiched‘ generation, India Scott (50) has nothing left to give. Caught between the needs of her ageing parents and the demands of her entitled teenagers, India’s sanctuary is her ‘slow fashion’ shop.

Surrounded by pre-loved designer clothes, India draws comfort from the memories and history she feels in every item.

India is still reeling from the sudden death of her father, Ray, when her mother, Gloria, brings bags of his clothes to her shop. India is confused and hurt by her haste, but Gloria declares that she and Ray said their goodbyes a long time ago.

In the pocket of her dad’s coat, India finds an old photo of a woman holding a toddler. ‘Charlie – 1966’ is scrawled on the back. The old photo precipitates a journey of discovery that forces India to question everything she thought she knew about her family.
