BEST OF: Kygo

He was born as Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll in Singapore as the son of a Norwegian dentist and an abroad worker in the maritime industry. Through his childhood (after growing up in Norway foremost) he lived and travelled with his family in Brazil, Japan, Kenya and Egypt. Kygo started getting music lessons at the age of 6 and stopped when he was 15/16, but began producing music. His artistic name is derived from the first two letters of his first & last name.

He released his debut single ‚Epsilon‘ in 2013 and in 2014 he released ‚Firestone‘ featuring vocals from Conrad Sewell. This song became his breakthrough as it charted across Europe and Australia, topping the charts in Norway and reaching Top 3 in Germany and Sweden and Top 10 in the UK and Australia among other countries. His follow-up single ‚Stole The Show‘ with vocals by Parson James also topped the charts in Norway, peaked at #2 in Germany and #3 in Sweden. He completed the trifecta in his homecountry with „Nothing Left“ featuring Will Heard.

In 2016 he released his debut album „Cloud Nine“ which topped the album charts in Norway and Switzerland, peaked at #3 in the UK, #6 in Germany and #11 in the USA among other countries. His first Top 10 single in the USA came alongside Selena Gomez. „It Ain’t Us“ peaked at #10 in the States, #2 in Germany, #4 in Australia and #7 in the UK among other countries. It also became his 4th #1 single in Norway. Later that year he released an ep called „Stargazing“ and then his 2nd studio album „Kids In Love“ which peaked at #3 in Norway and Sweden.

In 2019 he released a single called „Higher Love“ with vocals of the late great Whitney Houston. The song peaked at #2 in the UK, giving him his best result there. In 2020 he released his 3rd studio album „Golden Hour“ which topped the Norwegian album charts and peaked at #6 in the UK, #8 in Germany, #9 in Australia and #18 in the USA.
