The poetic and spheric fashion film by Axl Jansen tells the story about the BRACHMANN Mies van der Rohe House Capsule Collection that is inspired by both a dress worn by Martha Lemke – the building’s owner – in a photo from 1932 showing her in front of the house, and by the Mies van der Rohe House Berlin. The film – shot on location of the Mies van der Rohe House Berlin – draws inspiration from photographic and cinematographic references taken from the period in which the Martha Lemke dress were created, as well as from the Mies van der Rohe House and thus from the visual language of New Objectivity and the New Vision linked to names such as Man Ray, Lucia Moholy and László Moholy-Nagy, and Fritz Lang.
The film has been made related to the 6th volume of the publication series by the Mies van der Rohe House Berlin edited by Wita Noack, Jan Maruhn und Simon Behringer. In this volume, there is published a text by BRACHMANN about the relationship between fashion and architecture together with a photo essay by Axl Jansen that tells the story of the capsule collection in the context of the house. The fashion film has been premiered at Fashion Positions 2021 in an analogue video installation and during the book presentation in the Mies van der Rohe House Berlin in October 2021.
