CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION FALL 2012 – FESCH.TV
CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION FALL 2012 & FESCH.TV:
With another fall winter ready-to-wear season done and dusted I took a moment to unearth this deep cut I made a dozen years ago late in my tenure at Ford. Although it comes from a world that in a lot of ways no longer exists—for one, Calvin Klein showing on the final Thursday of New York Fashion Week—the video embodies many of the nascent qualities that continue to inform my work more than a decade later.
On the morning I shot this I barely scraped my way backstage with my U18 model for the day. The vice president of corporate communications (and my future boss during my doomed stint at Calvin Klein) held me up in the service entrances at 205 W 39 St for what felt a long time. No, I wasn’t on the media list, my name was familiar having interviewed with my other future boss. After some radio calls, negotiations, and a solemn promise to keep my backstage shots tight, I would be granted access. I was in!
Francisco Costa was at the helm for this collection for Fall 2012, which was shown twice on Thursday, 16 February 2012 in the show space on the main floor. My models for the day were Lara Mullen, Julia Nobis, and Cora Emmanuel. Comment below if you recognize any other faces…
Collection dispatches like this I made by the hundreds over years before abandoning them altogether. Corporate comms and PRs often chafed at my coverage, mostly because I produced my work without their blessings. At the time it was important to me to prove my fashion bona fides and elevate the agency’s media offering. Trust me, I’m still trying to do both.
Enjoy the long season, folks.
