Changes and opportunities: Portugal’s Golden Visa for British Buyers

With Brexit implications restricting time allowed in the EU, and the pandemic dramatically effecting the way we live and work, it’s no surprise that Portugal’s Golden Visa program is becoming increasingly popular with British buyers.

The program grants residency to non-EU nationals who purchase a property worth €280,000 or more in Portugal, allowing them to live, work and travel freely in the Schengen area. Golden Visa holders are also eligible for a Portuguese passport after five years.

However, in January this year Portugal introduced changes to the program restricting qualifying locations for property purchase.
