Yunyang, is located in the hinterland of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, an important node of the Yangtze River Economic Zone. The County covers an area of 3649 square kilometers, with a population of 1.37 million. It is the most populous county in the city. The migrant population and submerged physical indicators of the Three Gorges Project rank first among the counties in the reservoir area.
