Chris Matts – The Complexity Jigsaw

The field of complexity is like a massive jigsaw puzzle without a picture on the front of the box. Have you ever had that nagging feeling that there are a few pieces missing, especially when it comes to dealing with time? We are delighted to welcome Chris Matts to discuss, among other things, Real Options, a technique that will help you address some of the incomplete parts of the puzzle. After a very brief discussion of the history and theory of Real Options, Chris will focus on some of the powerful techniques that will help you act rather than simply sense in complex environments.

In the second part of the session, he will discuss culture in organizations. In particular, a brief investigation of whether cultural archetypes exist and the implications of this on how you manage in the workplace.

After a lifetime working in complex environments in investment banking and agile, Chris is currently musing over the direction he will next travel. Like Alice, he is stuck in a metaphysical conversation with the Cheshire Cat.
