Sicily is a traditionally Catholic land. However, there are villages populated by the descendants of 15th century Albanian immigrants who have kept their traditions, language and Orthodox religion intact. Among these localities there is Contessa Entellina about 80 kilometers from Palermo, in the hinterland.
