Curtis Santiago Artist in Residence

The UT School of Art hosted Artist-in-Residence, Curtis Santiago, for the spring 2022 AIR Lecture on Thursday, April 21, in the Art + Architecture Building, Room 109, at 7:30 pm.

The title of Santiago’s presentation was Montreal and he began the lecture with a song of that name.

Curtis started his art career in music and the influence of song is prevalent in his practice. He chose Montreal in homage to his early works. The lyrics tout aspirations of travel and exploring far away places. It is the embodiment of youthful optimism on the precipice of something great. He reflects upon the importance of his early work and its foundation as fundamental to his practice today.
