In this event, Danielle and Cade talk about their favourite game cut scenes and FMV’s (full motion video), as well as their stylistic approaches, methods for play and the influence they had on themselves as artists and gamers.

The Twitch stream event series for Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley’s solo exhibition at arebyte Gallery, She Keeps Me Damn Alive, sees Danielle in live-streamed conversations with a series of invited guests.

During their conversations, the artist and guests play and talk about their favourite games on Twitch as a way to centre the discussions and invite the audience to join the conversation live.

Topics include contemporary + queer gaming, interaction innovations, game criticism and theory, and the history of gaming.

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley is an artist living and working in London. She creates work that seeks to archive the Black trans experience. She uses technology to imagine our lives in environments that centre our bodies… those living, those that have passed and those that have been forgotten.

Cade Diehm is the founder of The New Design Congress, an international digital infrastructure research group.

After studying design in Australia, Cade was the product lead for a CN/AUS Augmented Reality fashion startup (2013), prototyped Signal with Open Whisper Systems (2014), led design and strategy with emerging cryptocurrency technologies (2015) and was Chief Design Officer at SpiderOak, a Snowden-approved cloud storage company (2016). From 2017 to 2019, he led design and collaborated on information security research at Tactical Tech, a Berlin-based NGO that works to raise awareness of issues of data, privacy and technology in societies.
