E86: Connecting Script Lettering

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Tonight we talk about script lettering in both native and stitch based BX fonts. We talk about selecting, moving, rotating and sizing individual letters. With native BX fonts we talk about nearest connection point and how that gets rid of jump stitches.
For stitch based BX fonts we investigate the stitch simulator – turn jump view on and off – both help us understand what is going to happen at the machine. Using the stitch editing of Enthusiast we see how to relocate the dot of the small letter i to the end of the word – just like if you were to hand write the word. Because stitch based BX fonts do not redigitize to connect like native BX fonts do, we use stitch editing of Enthusiast to add travel stitches to eliminate jumps and create continuous stitching script lettering.
