Clearline’s 005 theme: Farm to Fashion, comes to life in our first film Earthly Contrails. Through handheld camera and animation, we see a humanist portrait of the relationship between couture designer Celeste Malvar-Stewart and Laurel Shouvlin, the alpaca shepherdess that supplies her fiber. This rare partnership and the mission behind Celeste’s gowns offer a respite from an increasingly disconnected fashion landscape and a vision of a possible future. Among drooling alpacas and milkweed-sweetened air, Celeste gives us a behind-the-scenes look at her gown, Earthly Contrails, as we bring the farm-to-fashion circle to a close.
