The course introduces export market readiness for international artisan businesses. It is designed to provide students an overview of the key topics and skills needed to reach market success in wholesale and online retail sales for the handmade sector. The course offers practical opportunities for participants to engage on each topic in their own work and to collaborate with each other. These exercises and homework assignments will help participants apply lessons learned to their own context.
After completing this course:

You will have gained knowledge in the current state of the US Retail Market, distribution channels, projected trends, and how these apply to handmade products and artisan businesses
You will understand the 2024-2025 retail color trends in fashion and home decor and know the steps to develop a new artisan product collection and have begun the planning for a new collection
You will understand the basic formula for costing and pricing artisan products, how to add shipping to determine US landed pricing and export pricing terms and have the tools to take it forward
You will learn the basics of artisan marketing and branding, and identify stories to use in your branding
You will have created goals and developed action plans for your work and how it relates to the eMRP topics
You will have had a chance to dig deeper into each topic through homework on your own
You will have access to extended homework and training tools to support you in the future
