Hello my name is Sam Mikael Jones and I am from Toronto, Canada. I have been a teacher for over 15 years. I specialize in creative writing, grammar, linguistics, language fluency and confidence building.
I have gained a TESOL certificate for teaching English as a second language from International Language Academy Canada.
I have taught in North America, Middle East and Online to students in Asia.
I really enjoy teaching because I love to see the light bulb illuminate in my students’ minds.
Sincere joy and happiness are very important to gaining and keeping a love for learning.
If your heart is in it, it will always be easy to learn. To that effect, I tailor my sessions to suit your specific needs and interests to keep you motivated!
I love to let my students speak a lot and ask many questions. Ideally I would prefer if the student speaks for about half of the session. This helps you get over your fears and to build confidence.
I have a Juris Doctor/LLB, which is law school training to be a lawyer. I also have a degree in Political Science and Economics. I have written countless essays, blog posts, articles and reviews.
I have published my own poetry and the work of my students in two books (Guerillaz of the Word Parts 1 and 2) that are available in public libraries in Canada.
I have a speciality in creative writing for fiction, film, and poetry.
I specialize also in grammar and linguistics to provide a tailored approach to suit your grammar and linguistic needs.
I have an excellent track record in improving student fluency and confidence in real life situations.
I am very familiar with idioms, popular culture references and will help you understand English language jokes, music lyrics.
I will help you engage in general conversation in a wide range of topics from immigration, shopping, fashion, beauty, health, travel, weather, sports, and business.
I have experience in preparing students for IELTS for entrance into college and university and in preparation for English speaking jobs especially in business, medical and legal vocabulary.
