Hemant Sagar | France Alumni Ambassador 2021-23 & FESCH.TV:
Hemant Sagar is the first Indian among the greatest creators of Haute Couture in the world. Born to an Indian father and a German mother, he spent his childhood in Delhi, then, as a teenager, he left to study design and sewing in Germany.
He began his fashion career as an apprentice in Germany, then joined Paris and the School of the Chamber Syndicale de Couture Parisienne, where he met Didier Lecoanet. They quickly launched their own brand – LeCoanet Hemant, which dresses the 1980s international movie stars and high European society.
Lecoanet Hemant has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Dé d’Or, the highest distinction in the field of haute couture (the equivalent of the Oscars in the world of sewing). The works of Lecoanet Hemant make part of the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Deutsches Museum in Berlin, and the Museum of Arts of Paris fashion. Currently, they are very involved with the CNRS in the development of sustainable fiber from Meghalaya, which they wish to use in their creations.
