Hi/Low Shuffle – FESCH.TV
Hi/Low Shuffle & FESCH.TV:
Goal:
Improve gaze stability and visual tracking to reduce motion sensitivity.
Equipment Needed:
Sticky note with target (letter, number, symbol), target on the ground (ottoman, cone).
How to Perform:
Place a sticky note with a written target (letter, symbol, or number) above eye level next to where you will perform this exercise. Place a low target like an elevated cone or ottoman on your other side a few steps away. Stand with your gaze parallel to the wall with the sticky note. Alternate touching, shuffling and looking at the high and low targets. You can switch hands for each side, but make sure your head and eyes are looking each time you shuffle to touch the target. Continue in alternating fashion as quickly as you can. Repeat this facing the other direction. To increase the difficulty, increase the distance between each target so you have to shuffle farther.
Volume and Frequency:
Repeat about 10-12 passes, then rest briefly to let your symptoms settle back to baseline. Perform 3-5 sets, 3-5 times per day.
What to Expect:
Symptoms of dizziness may be elicited during this exercise. As a general rule, symptoms should increase to a mild-to-moderate degree only and return to baseline shortly following the exercise, within about 5 minutes. Symptoms will eventually reduce in intensity with repetition, and the time it takes to recover following each repetition will shorten.
