« J’ai rencontré beaucoup de gens grâce à la musique électronique. Au cours de discussions, on m’a souvent posé la question suivante : “Avez-vous déjà essayé d’entrer au Berghain ?”. Je n’y suis jamais allé et je n’ai pas l’intention de le faire. En surfant sur Internet, j’ai découvert que ce club berlinois fait l’objet de nombreuses discussions. Entre ceux qui veulent savoir comment y entrer et ce qui s’y passe, et ceux qui veulent garder le secret, un fantasme collectif règne sur ce lieu opaque, devenu un mythe, voire un lieu sacré. La règle la plus importante : aucune photo n’est autorisée à l’intérieur. Comme beaucoup d’internautes, intrigué par ce rapport paradoxal à l’image, entre ultra-médiatisation et secret bien gardé, j’ai cherché à comprendre, en position de spectateur-importateur. Puisqu’il est si difficile d’entrer dans cette boîte noire, j’ai adopté un point de vue totalement extérieur, en regardant de loin, en tournant autour du lieu, en observant ceux qui regardent. Quelle est la limite de ces images ? Quelle est la frustration de l’internaute, habitué à accéder à tout ce qu’il veut (ou presque), face à l’insaisissable… J’ai mené une enquête sur l’identité du Berghain, une identité en creux, faite de fragments éparpillés sur Internet. Le résultat est ce film : « ICH BIN BH. »
