Slater went on to win his 10th world title that year, and his 11th the next. Two years later, in his 40s, he beat John John Florence – his heir apparent – in the finals of the Pipe Masters, nabbing his seventh Pipe trophy in stunning come-from-behind fashion from the future world champ and Pipe Master.
