FCCLA State Leadership Convention
OHS FCCLA attended the State Leadership Conference in Riverside, CA. Activities included regional winners competing for awards and scholarships, industry tours, fashion show, recreation night, chapter meetings, career workshops, formal banquet and a dance. Special congratulations to Hannah Fick for winning 2nd place in Professional Presentation and to Ms. Smith for getting her 10 year pin.
Forensic DNA Fingerprinting Lab
Students in Mrs. Weliver’s AP Biology class at OHS are working on a Forensic DNA Fingerprinting Lab using restriction enzymes, gel electrophoresis and base-pair analysis to solve the „crime“. They love using the equipment and seeing how biotechnology is done in the real world.
Nature Journaling
Student’s in Mr. Weliver’s Biology class at LPHS studied nature journaling on campus.
Playing the Dot Game
Students in Mrs. Kermen’s US History class at LPHS played the Dot Game to learn about what it was like to live in America during the McCarthy Era and the early Cold War and how the communist hysteria and suspicion in America lead to many being accused and blacklisted without any evidence.
Yummy Math Lesson
Students in Mrs. Saeturn’s Math I class at OHS used M&M’s to model exponential growth and decay.
Transportation Gets a New Bus
The Board approved the purchase of a new 2021 Micro Bird 24-Passenger Bus to be used on special education routes.
New Ag Fencing
New fencing has been installed along Autrey Lane to make the ag department more secure.
Play Acting Macbeth
Students in Ms. Shaffer’s AP English class at OHS really got into their roles when play acting Macbeth.
Independent Living Skills
Students in Mr. Younger’s Independent Living Skills class at LPHS had fun learning how to make fruit pizza cookies.
PHS Celebrates El Dia del Nino
“El Día del Niño” or “Day of the Child” is a celebration that originated in Mexico and dates back to 1925. It is celebrated each year on April 30th. This day is about recognizing the importance of children in society and promoting their well being. PHS students enjoyed an afternoon of eating burgers, hot dogs and snow cones, face painting and playing many outdoor games.
Who Knew Mr. Hopkins Was So Cool?
Mr. Hopkins rocked out in the quad during lunchtime and treated students to a great show!
Congratulations Las Plumas FFA State Degree Recipients
Twenty Las Plumas FFA students received the State Degree Recipients at the FFA Superior Region Meeting The State FFA Degree is awarded to FFA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to the California State FFA Association and made significant accomplishments in their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs). These members are the aspirational leaders of our chapter and we are so proud of their dedication, work ethic and devotion to Las Plumas FFA!
