Third: The Key
Mectizan and albendazole are distributed to locally trained volunteers known as Community Drug Distributors (CDDs). This empowers communities to determine and address their health needs. They travel from village to village distributing Mectizan using a pole to determine the correct dose based on height. Meet Mariam, a CDD from Kebbi State, Nigeria, who says: “We are giving these medicines out today so that future generations will not even know that there is something like oncho.”

Alongside Mariam, thousands of CDDs are helping their communities eliminate river blindness and other diseases. CDDs are the key!
