The Cyprus High Commission in the UK presents My Finest Fabulous and Amazing Math Book, a video-art installation by Cypriot visual artist Efi Spyrou, curated by Marios Psaras, for the London Festival of Architecture 2021, in collaboration with the Diversity+Inclusivity by Design Research Lab at the School of Design, University of Greenwich.
The concept: international model turned visual artist Efi Spyrou addresses the political economy of the female body in fashion and of the artwork in auction houses. The experience of the incessant measuring of her own body in the fashion industry reflects the assessment and evaluation processes involved in the art world in a self-reflexive installation. Fashion meets art meets architecture, turning the spotlight to the spaces where art and the body are constantly measured, assessed, evaluated, sold, while simultaneously being preserved, valued, appreciated, protected.

The installation consists of two separate videos: a sequence of hand-gesturing following the unique signal numbering system used in auctions, and a shot of a sculptural costume consisting of tape measures. It is accompanied by an eerie acoustic poem iterating through numbers and directives.
The installation will be hybrid:
– Live video mapping of the installation on the facade of one of the most recognisable buildings in London, the King William Court at Greenwich. King William Court is part of the Old Royal Naval College and the University of Greenwich building complex, a UNESCO world heritage and one of the most filmed sites in the UK.
– Digital version of the installation available online at the LFA’s official website.
