„Kyzylkum“ is the fifteenth largest desert in the world. It is located in Central Asia in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the name can be translated as „Red Sands“. At the time when Uzbekistan was a part of the Soviet Union, I lived in the Kyzylkum Desert and worked as a geophysicist in geological expeditions there for 20 years.

„Camel from Kyzylkum“ is a memoir of my life journey. You can travel with me from Ukraine to the Kyzylkum Desert of Uzbekistan, from the Soviet Union to Austria, then Italy, and eventually the United States of America.

My book is a compelling testament to people’s choices over time, it focuses on freedom and self-determination, no matter how much work and risk are involved.
