►WHAT IS NANCY IN JULY?

NANCY IN JULY is a documentary videographic cinematography. This piece is of a processual nature and it has been directed and edited by Alfonso Legaz about an in-common idea with the plastic artist Andrea Garay. It was recorded in Strasbourg, at the home of the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy on July 3, 2017. Its production belongs to the context of the project 20 ESPEJOS SUCEDEN (20 mirrors happen), whose authors are Alfonso Legaz and Andrea Garay and in which they investigate and produce from elements and figures characteristic of the in-common mind deconstructed by Nancy. This videography was released in Valencia (Spain), on February 25, 2020, in Octubre Centre de Cultura Contemporània.

►SYNOPSIS

In July 2017, the artists Andrea Garay and Alfonso Legaz set out on a journey to meet the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy, at his home in Strasbourg, and to discuss with him, among other things, the categories of “the presentable” and “ the non-presentable ” in the context of audiovisual documentary practices and contemporary artistic production, from the experience of his project 20 ESPEJOS SUCEDEN (20 MIRRORS HAPPEN), which attends figures and elements of the philosopher’s aesthetic thought, making a cinematographic portrait of the thinker, international authority around the thought of the in-common, around the sense of being together.
