In a live Zoom talk, the Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander gives an insight into her current solo exhibition «knife does not cut fire» at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein in an interview with curator Christiane Meyer-Stoll. She also explains the special circumstances in which the show was conceived and produced in Covid-19 times.

This time, Rivane Neuenschwander, who attaches great importance to making reference to the situation at the particular venue, was not able to travel here from São Paulo owing to the dramatic pandemic situation in Brazil, where she lives with her family and works. The entire communication took place online, from viewing the premises to gathering initial ideas and detailed planning and implementation of the exhibition trail. This gave rise to a number of works created together with children at workshops held in the run-up, in close collaboration with the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein art education team, along with various works that integrate with the specific architectural setting of the museum.

Die Planung der Einzelausstellung «knife does not cut fire» von Rivane Neuenschwander fand in der von Covid-19 geprägten Zeit statt. Die Künstlerin, die in ihren Ausstellungen vielfach auf die Situation vor Ort Bezug nimmt, reiste diesmal nicht aus São Paulo an. Die gesamte Kommunikation fand online statt, sei es die Besichtigung der Räume, das erste Sammeln von Ideen bis hin zur konkreten Planung des Ausstellungsparcours. Dabei sind Werke entstanden, die im Vorfeld aus Workshops mit Kindern vor Ort realisiert wurden, sowie Werke, die sich konkret in die architektonische Spezifik des Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein einschreiben. Dieses Gespräch gibt einen Einblick geben in die Ausstellung als auch in die Konzeption und Produktion von «knife does not cut fire».
