Queerceañeras is a celebratory ode to creative self-expression and liberation. Quinceañeras, my main inspiration, is a coming of age celebration for girls that turn 15 years old introduced as women in Latin American cultures. With the queering up of this rite, my main desire is to offer different possible becomings and comings of age. I intend to stretch normative identity categories and roles to create more spaciousness in the way we inhabit the multiplicity within us. Create not only more spaciousness but also more rites where we celebrate non-normative identities. The dresses are a celebration of creative self-fashioning, a dive into a LATINX fashion universe, and an irreverent and unapologetic scream of „NOS CELEBREMOS A GUSTO!“ (Let’s celebrate one another joyously!).
