Sleeping Around Safely Alaska
FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:
Can you guess where the @otpym traveling team is Sleeping Around Safely now…?
Since September 2020 my head has hit many a pillow to document travel companies who were welcoming travelers back safely + sustainably
In mini-sode we set sail from Seattle to Alaska onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Encore
First we meet the inspiring President, John Binkley, at the brand new The Mill at Ward Cove. He shares with us their dedication to respecting nature, the land + her indigenous people.
Johan Dybdahl, a lifelong native of Hoonah Alaska who shared how thanks to tourism at Icy Strait Point he can now employ anyone + everyone while still being able to share + preserve their culture.
The CEO of NCL expressed his companies commitment to the communities in which his ships visit. NCL believes in being a true partner to a destination + her people as they’ve demonstrated at Icy Straight Point, owned by Huna Totem Corporation whichis owned by approximately 1,350 Alaskan Natives with aboriginal ties to Hoonah and the Glacier Bay area. Many of them are of the Tlingit people.
We couldn’t leave Alaska without a pitstop at the iconic watering hole Louies Douglas Inn where we had the honor to meet the owner, Abby Willams in Juneau. Cheers to locally brewed craft beer + salmon infused cocktails!
Stay tuned for our series featuring more examples of sustainable + immersive travel as our world safely reopens.
Pack a bag (and a mask) + journey on with us,
Michaela + the OTPYM Traveling Team
