Nicoleta Ghiță is only 21 but she began her artistic career really early, as an actress in the youth theatre group Playhood in Ferentari – the neighbourhood in Bucharest where she grew up. In the meantime, she added to her portfolio several roles in different shows (that she performed as part of the Roma feminist theatre company in Bucharest and on different Romanian stages), as well as the trainer position in some projects dedicated to youth. She has been experimenting with writing lyrics for a long time, because she believes this is how people get to see her through her own eyes. Her Resistance Story is written in rhymes, it has rhythm and always has a strong message. Just like the trap that she composes, interprets and posts on social media, where she gets both hate and support:
I make music with a message, this is my fight and my life. I’m not like those rich boys ready to sing about money I don’t even have. What fills me with hope is that I also see people who say: “Wow, she’s a girl. A girl making trap, cool, show us some more of your songs!”

This is the seventh episode of the video monologues series „Resistance is a Girl Who Changes the World“, part of the international cultural project „Stories of Girls‘ Resistance“.

About the project:
The global project debuted in November 2020 and will encompass a total of 120 stories told in 5 different languages about girls from 65 countries who are changing the world. The stories will be
brought to life through video art, music, theatre, poetry and other forms of creative documentation.
12 of these stories are produced by the Giuvlipen theatre and will be realized as video monologues performed by Roma artistx.
