Professor Jones has more than 45 years of hospitality industry experience. He recently retired from a full-time teaching position at California Polytechnic University-San Luis Obispo. His past academic background also includes holding the position Professor and Programme Director at Singapore Institute of Technology, Professor and Chair of the Department of Hospitality Management at the University of San Francisco, Associate Professor and Undergraduate Programme Director at Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Associate Professor in Department of Hospitality Management at San Francisco State University and Assistant Professor at the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Previously, he held senior-level sales and marketing positions with the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau in San Jose, CA; Shangri-la International Hotels in the U.S.A. and Asia; Red Lion Hotels; and Marriott Hotels and Resorts. His research interests are hotel marketing, buyer-seller relationships, and convention and event management. Professor Jones also consults and conducts sales training and service quality management programs for various hospitality industry companies. Additionally, he has been a speaker for several industry-related conferences. He received his Ph.D. in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His M.B.A. and B.S. degrees are both from Michigan State University.

The San Francisco-based consultant is a “connector,” having worked in many industries and has an outgoing, enthusiastic personality that magnetizes people to her. Armstrong’s guests come from many sectors that include Education, Music, Television, Theater, Fashion, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Health and Wellness, Mental Health, Community Advocates, and much more!
With over 25 years of experience in image consulting and public relations, Armstrong enjoys helping people “be their best, by looking and feeling their best” in body and spirit. She also teaches in the Fashion Department at City College of San Francisco.
Working in the underserved Bayview Hunter’s Point neighborhood in San Francisco, Armstrong is the Founder of the Primed & Prepped: A Hospitality Management/Culinary Arts Mentoring and Job Training Program at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA. The purpose of the program is to help mitigate the barriers to employment for young males and females of color.
Armstrong has previously served as a Board of Governors with the Recording Academy. She created and co-chaired the Urban Outreach Committee of the Recording Academy (a.k.a. The Grammys), was an inaugural member of KQED’s Community Advisory Panel, and Formerly chaired the P.R. Committee on San Francisco State University’s Hospitality Management Advisory Board. In addition, she has volunteered with The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). Armstrong is married, resides in San Francisco, and has a passion for food, fashion, and music.
