The Portrait of Her Gestures & FESCH.TV:

In this long-term, participatory project, Lu collaborates with women from different professions. After spending a day observing and documenting each individual’s unique gestures at work, Lu extracts and abstracts these everyday gestures and choreographs them into 2-3 minutes dances. Lu then teaches the choreography to each participant, who in turn performs the dance in front of the camera. Lu’s goal is to continue this project for as long as possible, establishing a gestural library that represents individual woman in various work fields and exploring diverse female identity representations.
The first realization of the work is in collaboration with Vogue China magazine, with three participants: CiCi, a fashion model; Ziling, a psychologist; Qin Xuan, an environmentalist.
