Part XIII:
„Movable Egypt (Part One)“
August 6, 2021
On their second trip to Egypt, in 2000, Philip and Dorothy visited many museums.
Through Philip’s eyes, we travel through The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, otherwise known as the Egyptian Museum, or Cairo Museum. It is the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East, and it has been home to the largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities in the world, covering more than 5,000 years. In 2021, twenty-two royal mummies, along with their burial objects, were moved to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization nearby.
From predynastic pots to Roman Fayum mummy portraits, the museum offers an impressive detail of the country’s civilization and its various cultures.
