She was born as Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong in the UK. Her older brother ‚Rollo‘ is a part of the group Faithless. Her parents enrolled her at the Guidhall School of Music and Drama after she stole a recorder from school at the age of 5. She played recorder, piano and violin as a teen. Thanks to collabs with Faithless she got the attention of a record company. In 1999 after her initial record copany got sold which delyed the debut of her album she finally released ‚No Angel‘. Her career then took off after rapper Eminem asked Dido to use the first verse of her single ‚Thank you‘ for his song ‚Stan‘ and after Dido agreed she even participated in the musicvideo. Thanks to the success of ‚Stan‘ her debut album sold over 21 million times worldwide and was certified Diamond in France, 10x Platinum in the UK, 6x Platinum in Australia, 4x Platinum in the USA and Canada and Platinum in Austria and Switzerland. It also became the top-selling album of 2001 worldwide. In 2003 Dido released her follow-up album ‚Life for Rent‘ which sold again very well with over 13 million units sold worldwide and was certified 9x platinum in the UK, 6x platinum in Australia and 3x platinum in the USA.

After her 3rd album ‚Safe Trip Home‘ released in 2008 which was not as successful as the other albums Dido took a longer hiatus. She returned in 2013 with her 4th album ‚Girl Who Got Away‘ and just recently released her 5th album ‚Still On My Mind‘ which reached the TOP 3 in the UK Single Charts.
