Today we are travelling from Finland’s second city Tampere across the centre of the country through the Finnish Lake district. It’s regarded as one of the most scenic railway journeys in the country. Our train is IC 905 the 07.00 from Turku on the Baltic coast to Pieksämäki. The IC consists of a Russian built Sr1 ‘Wolf of Siberia’ locomotive three double deck and three single deck coaches. At Pieksämäki we change trains and then travel onwards with a Regional to Verkhaus in the centre of the Finnish Lake District.
We are now at Jyväskylä the largest town in Central Finland and are ready to depart for Pieksämäki . The run is made in fine spring weather. Narrated and filmed in HD. Definition. RT 85 mins. ©FHP 2013
