US route opens up for Indian students

FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

The US has said the National Interest Exceptions (NIEs) for travelers from several countries including India would be valid for 12 months, and allow the holder multiple entries into the country.

The NIE allows travelers to bypass the existing travel restrictions issued via presidential proclamations on account of Covid-19.

This will allow Indian students holding a valid M or F visa and whose course starts on or after August 1, 2021 to travel to the US on an NIE.

Other qualifications include people providing vital support or executive direction to critical infrastructure, public health or national security or significant economic activity in the US.

Students and travelers with immigrant or fiance visas have been granted NIEs and do not need to obtain NIEs in advance from a consular section.
