He was born as Jason Joel Desrouleaux in Florida as son of Haitian parents. He started singing at a young age and even wrote songs himself when he was a kid. He wrote songs for artists like Puff Daddy/P Diddy, Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne among others since he was young and in 2006 he won the grand prize of the TV show „Showtime at the Apollo“. He later was signed to his first record deal and released his debut single „Whatcha Say“ in 2009. The song became his first and only #1 in the US Billboard Single Charts. His follow-up „In My Head“ topped the UK Single Charts and peaked at #5 in the USA. Jason released his debut album „Jason Derulo“ in 2010 – it peaked at #11 in the US Top 200 Billboard Album Charts and reached the Top Ten in the UK. It was certified platinum in the USA, UK and Australia.

In 2011 Derulo released his 2nd album „Future History“ – it peaked at #7 in the UK and reached the Top 30 of the US allbum charts. It was certified Gold in the USA, Australia and the UK. The single „Don’t Wanna Go Home“ became his 2nd #1 single in the UK. In 2013 Jason Derulo released his 3rd album „Tattoos“ which reached #5 in the UK album charts, his best result there. The single „Dirty Talk“ became his 3rd #1 in the UK and also topped the chart in Germany and Australia.

In 2015 he released his next album „Everything Is 4“- the album peaked at #4 in the USA, his best result in his homecountry. The single „Want To Want Me“ became his 4th #1 single in the UK.
