Another sad day for music fans all around the world: On January 15th, 2018 Dolores O’Riordan passed away – she was only 46. O’Riordan was lead-singer and guitarrist for the Irish alternative rock band ‚The Cranberries‘. She joined the group in 1990 after auditioning by writing lyrics and melodies to some existing demos. She was hired and success would soon follow: In 1994 MTV put their video to ‚Linger‘ into heavy rotation. Their debut album ‚Everything Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?‘ topped the UK Charts. Their follow-up album ‚No Need To Argue‘ became a world-wide success, reaching #6 in the US album charts and receiving triple platinum. More albums followed and in 2007 O’Riordan started her solo career, releasing the album ‚Are You Listening‘ and in 2009 ‚No Baggage‘. After reuniting with her band they released two more albums including ‚Something Else‘ in 2017. Unfortunately the band had to cancel touring plans due to an illness and now the shocking passing of O’Riordan.
